Healing My Gut with Intermittent Fasting

Biohacking has been a part of my life for years, starting with nutrition and gradually expanding into all areas of my lifestyle. Once I started down this path, I never looked back.

How It Started

After a long stretch of negative health experiences, I realized something had to change. The constant stress, processed foods, intense bodybuilding routines, and regular partying were taking a toll on my health, especially my gut.

Digestive issues were at the core of most of my symptoms, so I began experimenting with nutrition.

I’d read countless articles about intermittent fasting and its potential to help the body heal, but I was sceptical. The concept felt completely foreign to everything I’d been taught.

Growing up, I was told that breakfast was the most important meal of the day. In the bodybuilding world, I was conditioned to eat every three hours to maintain muscle and performance. The idea of skipping breakfast, let alone going several hours without food didn't sit right with me.

But despite all the conventional “wisdom,” my health was still suffering. I needed to try something different.

The First Steps

Within just a few days of skipping breakfast and fasting for around 14 hours, I noticed an immediate improvement in my gut. Where I’d usually feel bloated and gassy, I started to feel normal. It was a game-changer. This led me onto the sweet spot of 16:8, 16 hours fasted and a 8 hour feeding window.

Not only were my digestive symptoms improving, but my energy levels, my ability to lean out and burn fat and my mood were also noticeably better. I was more focused, more productive, and more in tune with my body.

By simply avoiding breakfast and giving my gut time to rest, I was giving it the space it needed to heal. Suddenly, all the dots started to connect.

The frequent, high-volume meals I had been eating to “optimize” my health were actually doing the opposite.

This Was Just the Beginning

Discovering intermittent fasting felt like a breakthrough, and it was only the start of a much bigger transformation.
